About the Library

Ozark Dale County Library is a public service organization and learning environment that possesses a huge collection of books, documents, and other materials from various countries, cultures, and time periods. You can freely access our collection. Our online catalog makes it easier for you to find the materials you need.

Meeting Areas are now available for a small fee to non-profit organizations.

Reference Service provides information on most subjects.  A librarian is available to help patrons find resources they need to conduct their research.

Telephone reference service answers need for quick facts of figured, responding to your short answer questions.

Free Internet is offered to adults and children.  Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult seventeen years of age or older.

Inter library Loan (ILL) allows patrons to borrow material from libraries throughout the state and nation. There will be a mandatory $5.00 cash deposit, however, and it is refunded when all materials are returned.

Genealogy assistance is available in the Creel Richardson Room, which contains the special collections of local historians, newspapers, documents, rare books, and local history (including marriage and cemetery records).

Young Adult Services give young people 12 years of age and older the opportunity to volunteer for community service.  In addition, we have a YA section aimed at meeting specific needs for teens.

Children's Programs are offered each Thursday to encourage reading and library usage. We also have Popcorn & a Movie on every second Saturday of each month. Come and watch a newly released movie, eat popcorn, and get a drink all for FREE.

The Alabama Virtual Library is available via Internet, and patrons can access databases of current information.

An Online Card Catalog service of our Library is available to patrons via any computer with internet access.

Computer Classes

We offer basic computer classes on Saturday mornings at 9:00. Darnell Johnson will start his class at 9:00 before the Library is open so he can give uninterrupted instruction. This is a 2-part class with basic computer the first week and Internet tips the second week. Each enrollee is expected to commit to 2 weeks of instruction and must take the first part before he/she is allowed to take the second part. For more information, call the Library at 774-5480. We can accommodate 15 people, so get your name on the list early. Remember that we will only continue with the class if participation is such that we feel our time and effort is justified.
